Using Raw Foods To Detox

If you are interested in doing a little, mini-cleanse or detox, the Raw Food diet is a great way to give yourself a boost. For a more complete Detoxification , I always recommend the “Master Cleanse” – but if you really want a quick method for cleaning up and slimming down, the Raw food will do.

When it comes to our diet, as westerners, we have really fallen off track. It has been mentioned by many doctors and even scientists, that our main diet would practically kill wild animals if they were to live on nothing but our diet.

They have even stated that if Indigenous peoples were to eat our foods, they would most likely become quite ill.

So taking the time to Detox and cleanse the body every now and then will ensure that you keep alot of that waste from building up in your colon and intestines.

Raw Food Diet

One of the main “rules” of a raw food diet, is that NO food is to be heated above 115 degrees. And this is critical because of what is INSIDE the raw foods. Inside our raw foods are enzymes. And enzymes actually help with digestion – and when they are heated, they lose there ability to do their job.

Some have even said that they turn into “free-radicals” – which could cause aging and things like that.

Now, what we are trying to avoid with the raw food diet, is:

  • No trans fats or hydrogenated oils
  • No food processed with excess sugar or salt
  • No high fructose corn syrup
  • Low levels of saturated fats
  • Less sugar, alcohol, wheat, rice, pastas and potatoes
  • Lower incidence of chemical residues from pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones

Now, when eating Raw Foods only, we must take into consideration some of the vitamins that we may be missing. Not all vitamins are easily attained when eating nothing but raw foods. Here are a few vitamins that you may want to stock up on:

  • Iron
  • Calcium/Magnesium
  • B-Complex
  • Omega-3s

There are many ways to set up your menu during your raw diet. And knowing what to avoid will help you to decide on what you will eat.

But coming up with your diet or menu before you get started, will make things easier. Remember, we are going to use the Raw Food diet to help cleanse our body -so we must decie on what we will use on a regular basis to start our day.

The first thing i want to make clear, is that you MUST add water to this Raw Food Diet. Please do not ask how much – just keep on drinking. Your trying to cleanse your body – let it tell you when you have had enough water to drink!

By this, I mean drinking something like warm water with the juice of a fresh lemon. It must be natural -no pills or anything like that. Even ones that are natural. Lets stick to the lemons and oranges and such. Start your morning like that, and you will actually help to clean out deeper levels of waste -before we add food to the top of the older layers of waste.

After that, your breakfast should contain raw fruit -like grapefruit. Obviously, you will learn to come up with various substitutes and variety’s.

Lunch should be some raw vegetables – maybe even a salad with carrots or beets or peppers. Add some low fat salad dressing to it and you are all set.

And make your dinner something that will end the day right. We want to REALLY clean out anything that is left in our digestive track from the day. I usually recommend a heavy dose of raw fruit juice – with vegetable juice as well.

And for your daily snack, you should have something natural -like a smoothie or an apple.

Make sure you stick to your Raw Food diet for atleast 3-5 Days. BUT -the more you do it, the less number of days you should have to do.

As with any detox or weight loss product or system, there is always a chance of an unwanted side effect. But many of the times, with detox or weight loss, there can be short periods of adjustment with our bodies -and that is sometimes uncomfortable. But that means its working!

  16. This was really an interesting read, because I think all of us suspected this. None of these companies have expert reviews or scientific studies behind them – it’s just companies pumping out hormones into drinks and selling them. Melatonin? Since when was relaxing the same as falling asleep? Really? Sleeping should never be equated the same as falling asleep. I used Ichill and just got knocked out. Great, so much for relaxing and doing my work? I tried this thing called Mini Chill, and first of all it has NO Melatonin! And yes, it’s a relaxation drink among relaxation drinks. I wish I could hear what the article writer would have to say about Mini Chill. It’s backed by a peer-reviewed scientific study and was formulated by a doctor.
